Für Elise (L. v. Beethoven)
One of Beethoven's most beloved melodies, Für Elise wasn't published during his lifetime, only being discovered by Ludwig Nohl 40 years after his death. The identity of "Elise" is unknown but researchers have suggested she might have been his piano student Therese Malfatti, soprano Elisabeth Röckel, or the young pianist Elise Barensfeld.
